Certification of Concrete Production Facilities

Plant Certification

The New 2020 Checklist is out!

If you wish to obtain plant certification, the auditing professional and the producer's representative (usually the facility's operations manager) must first complete the Auditor Qualification/Producer Orientation training before receiving a checklist. The audit checklist will be emailed to you once the orientation training has been successfully completed.

Plant Certification details

This certification program provides ready-mix concrete producers with the means of obtaining a Certificate indicating that a plant, has the "capability" of producing quality concrete as per Canadian Standards Association A23.1 – Concrete Materials and Methods of Concrete Construction, and A23.2 –Test Methods and Standard Practices for Concrete.

To be eligible for a Certificate, the producer must be a member of Concrete Alberta in good standing and the plant must be inspected by a qualified registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P. Tech.), who will confirm the facility's conformance to the Audit Check List. In addition to carrying the signature and stamp of the inspecting engineer, the Audit Check List must be signed by the facility's operations manager attesting that all equipment and materials will be maintained within requirements of the Audit Check List. Upon completion of the Audit Check List and correction of any deficiencies cited during the process, it should be forwarded to the Concrete Alberta office where it will be reviewed, and a Certificate of Conformance for Concrete Production Facilities may be issued.  Certification is for a 3 year term subject to renewal annually upon receipt of maintenance documentation.

The auditing professional and the producer's representative (usually the facility's operations manager) must first complete the Auditor Qualification/Producer Orientation training before receiving a checklist acknowledging their desire and ability to certify a facility. The Auditor Qualification/Producer Orientation training  is available online and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete including a short examination.  Upon completion of this segment and passing the exam with a minimum grade of 80%, the participant will receive a certificate of completion good for a 5 year term.
